I grabbed the small for my dog and the large for myself so we could match, and both are cut on the bias so they knot without bunching up. The cotton has a nice weight to it, not flimsy at all.
The medium size fits perfectly without slipping, and the fabric has just enough give to tie snugly without feeling tight. Wore it on a long walk and didn't have to adjust it once.
The size options are a lifesaver, I grabbed an XS and a 15" and both sit perfectly without slipping. The 12.5" one is great for my smaller neck, and it's been my go-to for quick errands all week.
